There are times when everyone experiences difficult and distressing feelings which can interfere with life and relationships. Confiding in friends and family members may not feel right but perhaps talking things through with someone who can provide compassionate and professional support could help.
Making the decision to see a counsellor can feel like a big step especially if this is the first time you’ve done so. I offer a safe, and confidential space in which to build a trusting, supportive relationship. From here we can explore any issues and concerns you are facing and move forward in a positive way that is right for you.
Issues that I have experience in include:
Affairs / infidelity
Communication
Conflict
Confidence & self-esteem
Loneliness and isolation
Relationship issues
Separation & divorce
Stress
I am an experienced Relate qualified couple's counsellor who works with a diverse range of couples and individuals. I offer counselling for relationship problems, family issues, communication difficulties, relationship breakdown, separation, and work-related stress and anxiety.
I have over 10 years’ experience in the field, including Samaritans supporting people at times of crisis and working for Relate. I have worked with couples and individuals face to face, over zoom, by text and telephone. I am a Registered member of the BACP and NCPS.
There may be many reasons for seeking ongoing counselling either individually or as a couple. These sessions are for 50 minutes via telephone or zoom and can be weekly or fortnightly. There is no fixed number of sessions, we can discuss and agree a plan together. Some clients may only need a few sessions, others may take several months,
If you are considering ongoing counselling, I offer an initial free telephone call, where we will discuss what has brought you to counselling and what changes you are hoping to make. Also, whether therapy is suitable and importantly whether I am the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation, you can decide in your own time.
A one-off appointment for those people wanting to work through a specific issue quickly. You can come along alone or with a partner, family member or friend. During the session, we will explore the issues and concerns you have and will. together, agree on some practical next steps to help you more forward. These sessions are normally an hour.
This is an opportunity to talk through an issue that you may have where you can express your concerns in a safe and non-judgemental space. We can talk through the next steps to offer further support if needed.
When coming to the end of our counselling sessions, some people find that monthly 'safety net' sessions to check back in are a good way to ensure that you aren't falling back into old habits. These might be an hour, or might just need to be 30 minutes. I am there to support and help you until you no longer need it.
Should you decide to work with me, then we will arrange a time for our first meeting which we will try to do quite quickly. I will send you a link to join the meeting on Zoom. I will also send you a small amount of paperwork, including a contract for you to read and sign. This outlines how we will work together and the confidentiality of all that you will tell me.
